Logicops by Vaibhav Mukim

Blurb (from the jacket):

A new department of police which solves crimes using the technique of logical communication—a method that allows communication through walls, over long distances and simultaneously with a lot of people. It uses nothing but the person’s surroundings. And just as peculiar as the method, are the crimes they solve.

My take on the book:
It was a while since I have accepted books for reviewing. This is the second book I have accepted to review, after Tat Tvam Asi by Pinky Acharya.

I have read quite a few books from Frog Books. From what I could guess, they are all self-published. That explains the quality of the book. The physical quality, I mean, The poor cover design for almost all the books from the publishers.

I personally think that Leadstart must start paying a little more effort towards these books, because they invariably effect the publishers in a way or another. Of course, they have released quite a few bestsellers like Asura and Arjuna, but it can't be judged right from half a dozen of books, can they?

After this book I am pretty sure I won't be accepting any more books for reviewing. It don't only waste the limited time I spend these days for reading, but also bores the crap out of me.

What is the story about? A mystery. What new has it got as Sci-fi? Logicops. What do they do? Logically solve mysteries. What!? They could communicate without having to talk verbally. How do they do that? Simple. They read the other signs of gestures like hand movement, body posture, etc. Isn't it similar to reading body language? Dang! Not similar. But exact. It is no different. That's what the author came up with. Cops who could read body language and solve mysteries. So what's sci-fi about it? No comments.

Thankfully, the book was short; text, big; white space, more. I got over with it pretty soon.

That's about it. Your call...

  1. Not to knock you off your stride, but they also communicate through walls, and over long distances. Body language? I think not. :)
